The aim of the project is to encourage people to eat locally and support local businesses and organisations, by offering people a Sunday food experience using local produce and allowing people to experience a farm or nature walk.
To establish a connection between local residents and landholders, with flora and fauna in the area and thereby attract increased land care membership.
There will be 4 seasonal food events organised over next 12 months at 4 different venues, partnering with Mitta Valley Landcare to deliver a unique environmental experience at each event.
Spring: Fernvale hall Committee Luncheon combined with Wet lands bird walk and guest speaker on birds of Prey. Mitta valley Beef/ cheese and bread platters/ local fruit based deserts.
Summer: Yalandra at Mitta Vale: Luncheon showcasing local Mitta Valley Waghu and locally grown vegetables combined with river buggy rides and discussion on River Red Gums.
Autumn: Witches Garden Gourmet Pizza using local vegetables and Mitta Valley Beef. Discussion on Bogong Moth
Winter: Dartmouth Feisty Fishing and Tasty Tid Bits held in Spring . Discussion on Bio Security and Threats to Agriculture. Mitta valley lamb/ Butchers Hook potato’s, Broadrib Farm gate Piccolo plates, Local honey and apples in pan cakes. Children’s Fishing Day.
